Default Updating the copyright year

Can someone tell me the rule of thumb about annual copyright updating? I manage six sites and while updating the index is no big deal, hundreds of pages seems a daunting task.

If you want to make updates to something like the copyright text on a site, add the text as a SSI or Library item. Then you only have to change the text in one place and it's then reflected on each page that contains the SSI or Library item.

Default copyrights

Well, that makes sense! Thanks! I didn't expect such a quick answer. Ask and ye shall receive around here, eh?

I guess what I'd really like to know is why the copyright of an existing page would have to be changed. For example, if a page contains newly created text, of course a current copyright is necessary. But what about a page that contains information that was copyrighted last year. Does that need to be updated?

OR stick this in each site and retire:

Code:
© Copyright Your Company 2005 <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript1.2">var d=new Date();yr=d.getFullYear();if (yr!=2005)document.write("- "+yr);</script>

This year it will read:
© Copyright Your Company 2005

Next year the copyright will read:
© Copyright Your Company 2005 - 2006

Updating each year.

Don't use any caps and the script will validate.
