Default Video Streaming compression and upload

I have compressed my 6 minute video to an avi file @ 40 megs and have a link from my homepage to it. I have no problem viewing it, but no one else can. It is loaded up onto my FTP server, and people click on the link, it downloads, but all they get is audio, if they get anything. The full 40 meg file does not present the video.

It also only uses Windows Media Player, and I have to have it read to QuickTime too. My QuickTime won't read it either, and I have the latest downloaded version.

I used the Ashampoo Movie Shrink & Burn program, but it's not giving any output online. My website is: www.jam-inc.com with the link in the blue copy in the bottom paragraph: 6 minute promotional video with our host/narrator, Gary Jobson, click here.

Conversely, if anyone can tell me how to do an FTP link to the server for download to Windows Media Player, Real Player and QuickTime as a straight download, I'd be very happy to just leave it on that location. As it is, typing in the source FTP URL does ZIP~ NADA! Check it out: www.jam-inc.com/images/SailorsLog.avi It comes up for me just fine, with a 3 minute download. And for you? And how about opening in QuickTime and Real Player?

If anyone can tell me what I'm doing wrong I'll be most grateful. I'm sending this out to potential sponsors for a PBS TV series we are producing, instead of sending out and burning unwatched DVDs that end up in the trash, and we want to get the money in quickly.

Thanks for your input.
Jo Ann
