Default Need Help with a Logo

Hi there,

I have a logo that uses a very curly E, & in a couple of places the
line of the E becomes very fine. When I reduce the file size &
resolution, there appears to be dark or dirty spots where the font
"breaks up" in these fine areas. I am using photoshop and do not want
to use any blurring effect.

Pls. see the logo...

How can I fix this, as it looks fine when it's HUGE.

Thanks

Michelle (posting for my VA)

Might be worth reducing the image first and then applying the text using a smaller font with anti-aliasing turned on.

Not sure if you'd get the result you expect though, otherwise I guess maybe you could modify the reduced image manually to suit your needs.

Hi Michelle,

Do you have a link to the image as a larger file? The link you provided shows the problem you're having with the curve breaking up.. it would be good to see the graphic in either a higher resolution or a bigger size.

What program was the graphic created in originally? Photoshop or Illustrator? If it were Illustrator, then you could take advantage of their vector graphics.

Paul

PS. I've also moved this post into Graphic Design, where you may receive more expert help from our members! :o)

Default Need help with logo

Hi there Michelle,

I'm not sure, but part of the problem may be that there is a clash of similar colours around this fine area of the E.
You have the light brown/tan of the lettering, the brown/maroon of the skewed square and a dark brownish shadow to the lettering, so when you've optimised it the lighter pixels have been lost.
Also, it's better to save your logo as a gif rather than jpg.

Hope this help a bit............cheers

Hi Michelle ~

If you'll determine the size you want the image first, then go Photo Shop and go into - Image | Image size - set your dimensions for width there. Photo Shop will set height proportionately to the original, and adjust pixels in the image to the new resolution. This will avoid the pixelation you're seeing in trying to resize the image, after the fact. You'll have to save the file in the second dimensions under another name of course.
