Default Clear Image Spacers

What's the best way to handle clear image spacers as far as alt tags go?
  • * Don't put them in?
  • * Put them in but leave them blank (alt="")?
  • * Put something (anything) in there to help improve density and such (even if you have 30 of them).
Thanks.

if you have to put them in, (the spacers that is), i would use alt="" so screenreaders, browsers with images off etc get nothing.

ideally though css would be a much better way to control spacing.
