I know that to have complete compatibility, one should use fonts that are common to people's computers. Well, frankly, I've gotten a bit tired of verdana, georgia, TNR, arial, etc. For my own home page, I wouldn't mind using an art deco font for headers, and another font for copy.
Is there a way to "push" the used font to someone's browser? (not looking for a .gif solution). |

AFAIK you can't - what is displayed is determined by the fonts installed on the users system and their browser preferences. Microsoft tried to "push" fonts on the web with a tecnology called WEFT http://www.microsoft.com/typography/web/embedding/weft/ which you could look up. OSX and XP come built in with a much wider selection of fonts so you can be more creative to some extent these days.

Looks like the word I was looking for is "embedding". I found some links on another forum that discuss how to embed a font in your webpage.
