Site map how to make quickly?

Are there any easy ways of making a site map? Or is it just a matter of listing all the links within a site in a format to easily navigate by hand?

If you use a link checking program such as Xenu's Link Sleuth, you'll find that a site map is automatically generated as part of its reporting facility. They often need some editing, but for a quick simple and cheap (free!) method, it's pretty hard to beat! :o)

There's even a webpage that walks you through the whole process - wouldn't you just know it! :o)

I have never used this program before but I did a Google and found this free software that will generate a sitemap for you.

I downloaded and tested the program, to use the full features you have to pay... and without them it's quite useless.

I would advise on using Xenu as well.

Not only for sitemaps but also for checking your links regularly, mostly you need it when you hand code but on occasion CMS programs do produce erroneous pages as well.

Note that it's best used locally, I used it on my customers web shop and the cable load it caused when indexing tens of thousands of pages was tremendous.

^^right, you can either select a free tool-with limitations of course and some paid tools for generating sitemaps, if you have a lot of time in your hands, you can create it on your own.

If you google " site map generator " you'll find hundreds of them. Also it helps to create a google webmaster account for the website and submit your sitemap there as well. Some people say it does not help...but it doesnt hurt to try if your looking to SEO your website.
