Default Problems with resizing a graphic.

I have a problem. I have a graphic here:

http://www.webnauts.net/images/webnauts_header.gif

and I would like to resize it. The width must be reduced so it fits on my homepage here: http://www.webnauts.net at a resolution 800x600.

I could manage it, but loosing quality.

The last symbol of all may be deleted if it does not work otherwise.

Thanks in advance.

Hi John,

The problem is making more data. You need to interpolate between pixels to make the additional pixels. There are allot of ways to do it.
I resized this using Bicubic interpolation.

This one is 760 wide. If your target is a screen is 800X600 you need to allow room for scrollbars etc.

It's best to make your original images at least 4 times larger than their final size.

If you have any problems email me Nbob@netopoly.net
Remove the N from the email address.

I've heard of a Photoshop trick to res. up photos.

Go to image size.
Check constrain porportions and resample image.
Switch the width from inches to percent.
Type in 110 percent.
Check OK.

Repeat over and over to gradually increase your image size. You can thow in an unsharp mask once in a while. Recording an action of this process will speed things up. Just replay the action over and over. The theory behind this is you will see less stairstepping if the size is gradually increased than all at once.

With all of this said, with the graphic mentioned above I would redraw in Adobe Illustrator or other program. If this graphic is going to be a main image on your website, no amount of Photoshop tricks will save it. Redrawing will make it sharp plus you could use it for letterhead, business cards, etc.

You are still adding pixels where there wre none before. There are third party products that will do better jobs of enlarging images that Photoshop, it's just that it's late, and I can't think of their names right now. Does anyone else know what thir names are?

I'm heading to bed.
