Default Links on index page.

Hello all!

I have a small design problem. I am gaining more links and I feel that I’m running out of space. (On my usmwf site.) I really hate drop down menus, any suggestions.
Thanks
Old Maid

The site map doesn't look very comprehensive. Maybe make better use of it?

Strictly speaking, you will never 'run out of space'. Your page will just keep getting longer and longer the more content you add to it. If you mean usable or visible screen area, then I know what you mean! :o)

No-one is likely to scroll down 3 - 4 screens worth of text to click on a banner to xyx organisation. I would reconsider your site structure, think of categorising your various lists into different groups and linked from clearly named headers.

Try adding a horizontal menu bar right underneath your site banner that includes the most important sections of your site. This would normally include a link to an "About us" page, "Contact", etc.
One suggestion would be to separate external pointing links from your internal site links, etc, etc. Organisation is the key here.. once you have it mapped out on paper, then start moving files into your new folders / directories. But please do a thorough link check, and you'll probably also need to set up some temporary redirects for those users who have bookmarked existing pages.

Hope that gives some food for thought?

Paul

Thanks for the info... I was just hoping there was another way out, like the web fairy? haha The site just keeps changing and I've cleaned house a couple of times already.
I think I will put in horizontal links, I just prefer left hand links.
Have a great day all
