Default Can anyone recommend a Guestbook?

This is my first post here and I'm hoping that somebody out there will be able to help me with a problem I've been having for a while now.
I need a Guestbook for my website and, despite trekking through nigh on a million search engines, cannot find one which suits my needs.

Basically, I need one for which users must register before they can leave a comment. I know that's not how Guestbooks usually work, but I really need one like that.

Oh ... er, I'd need it to be free as well.

If anyone can help in any way at all, I'd be more than grateful.

Default HotScripts

I don't know much about guestbooks, I've never used one, but if you haven't done so yet, try looking around at HotScripts.

They have scripts in any language you can imagine to do anything and many are free.

Default BG SAM's Guestbook - it's GREAT!

I use the Big Sam's php guestbook. It's free and you can actually talk to the author if you're having a problem. I LOVE IT

Default I forgot to add

While Big Sam's doesn't require sign in it does have the ability to track IP addresses. This feature virtually stops hackers and pests in their tracks.

Or better still just get any guestbook that suits your needs and restrict access using a small snippet of server_side code. The same way you restrict access to the rest of your site.

Default phpBB

We're used phpBB on three web sites now (two class reunion and one chamber of commerce site). Easy to install and implement, plus you have lots of control as admin.

Why does anyone use guestbooks? What purpose do they serve, and just how many visitors really sign up?, and if they do what purpose does it serve? Wouldn't it be better to do a member database and establish a mailing list? Really don't get the whole "guestbook" deal!

Here is a great site to use. They offer free guestbooks and you can change some of your settings and they have many designs to choose from. They will give you a web address for your guestbook and you link to it. They'll give you instructions. Hope this helps! Here's the link Free Guestbook - Easy and quick setup for your website
Have a great day!
