Default Using the word "LInk"?

Hello Everyone,

My site has consulting nav buttons on the left and Internet links buttons on the right. I have arrows pointing to this layout at www.usernomics.com

Is it good to talk about Internet Links vs. Internet Resources? I heard that search engines don't like link pages.

My choice is:

Consulting Services and Internet Links
Services & Assistance and Internet Resources

Does anyone see a difference between the use to the words Links vs Resources and Consulting vs Services?

Thanks a lot.

I've seen this question asked frequently and from what I've gathered, it's like asking 10 people the same question. You get 10 different answers. I certainly wouldn't know the answer other than if your unsure, don't use the word links. You won't be penalized for not using it.

One thing I would find ironic is, if you click on your Google Info in the toolbar, the third option says "Backward LINKS". Seems to me if they were to penalize a site for the use of the word "Links" it would be like the pot calling the kettle black.

Yes, that's what I thought about the word Links vs Resources.

How about from a marketing point of view? Some people are turned off by the word Consulting.

The option is to use the word Service or Assistance vs Consulting.

Anyone have a thought about that?

Thanks,

Why do people get turned off by the word consulting?

I like:

Services and Assistance on left,
Internet Resources on right.

or better yet

Services on left,
Internet Resources on right

or even still

Services on left,
Resources on right

---------

Don't know about the word link and Google, that's a good question.

I am not exactly sure why consultant has a bad rap but I have heard that from a few people.

I like your idea of simply Services and Resourcs.

The purpose of having those pointers is to show people that the site is divided in half with consulting on the left and resources on the right.

Do you think the idea will be clear with Services / Resources? I think so and it is very simple.

Thanks,

Bob

Yes I think it should be very clear, as long as you get the point across of what your site is all about, in other places throughout the site.

Good luck, glad I could help!
