Default CSS Positioning - Pros and Cons

I have just created a website using only CSS positiong for format and no tables. (www.cheerleading-shoes.com) I really like the extra positioning control and the versatility of this sort of layout BUT this site obviously looks like gobbledy-gook in older browsers. Yet I know that many developers have forgone table use. Just wanting feedback concerning your thoughts about CSS positioning pros and cons. How many of you use it? And do you think older browsers should be a concern?

TIA!

We use CSS for practically everything that isn't by it's very nature tabular content.

For site layout it's been a conscious decision to ignore older browsers (based on our visitor's browsers).

We have, however made the pages suitable for 800*600 resolution and they should be decent when css is ignored and very light, hopefully benefitting those that use slower connections.

Naw, coding to work it when CSS is ignored totally defeats the purpose. The only thing you should care about, that ignores CSS, is spiders. And that's the prime reason to use CSS positioning, IMO.

Yes, I am a CSS positioning convert.

The only allowances I make for older browsers is that I order my containers on my doc so that read without css that the information isnt jumbled up with images in between. I try & leave any containers with images at the end of the doc. Another way is to try & keep your images in your css too.

However, in some designs this isnt possible, so then I jsut ignore the older browsers.
