Default Dreamweaver MX Help

Hello there,

Im trying to get my site going, its pretty much done except the layout...!

This is whats going on...

I created the layout on Photoshop 7, i sliced it and then i open it using DW, however... all the slices where text goes keep growing..! and i mean, they loose the shape, then they start moving other cells around them until the whole page looks like a puzzle.

Then i tried using Photoshop just for the banner, which it was ok... except i still cant get the cells/tables to keep the size i specified.

How can i fix this??

thanks!

yes, i am a newbie!

Have you entered fixed sizes for the table cell?

e.g. If your graphic is 480x50 pixels, then in the cell which that graphic is to appear (with no text) enter the same size (in the properties box at the bottom). Then as long as nothing else is entered in that cell and that no other related cell (in horizontal and vertical allignment) is given a larger fixed size - the cell will remain the same size.

TEXT >> unless you use CSS to fix font size, viewers of your website can ajust font size - this can make cells grow or shrink in size. You can limit this by giving fized cell sizes but text will always overule this if it needs to be displayed bigger (for diabled users). Also, if you use % sizes - then as the browsers window changes size (not eveyone views webpages through a fully enlarged browser) - so will the cell sizes...

Can you give us an example of your site, so that we may be able to point you in the right direction?

I have had this happen numerous times with tables in DW. One thing is to specify the table sizes as dragonsi says.

The other item to note, is sometimes the table size is only enlarged in DW, and not when you actually view the site (this happens to me most commonly) as the sizes are specified and the browser interprets that as such.
