ampersands and/or slashes in navigation - is it kosher?
Hi all,
I am working with a client on web site content, and one of the tasks I need to do is review the navigation terms they are using. I am in the middle of the critique of new navigation headings and they are using a lot of ampersands in the navigation (for example: testing & training and Contracts, RFPs & RFQs). I am seeing conflicting information available as to using ampersands or slashes (as in testing/training) in site navigation. This is a public agency and so they need to abide by the ADA standards for visual impaired users.
What I have seen is the following:
Using ampersands is fine in graphical navigation, but spell out the “and” in the alt tags
Don’t use ampersands because it will create errors in the pages (This seems to be for ampersands in text)
Any ideas?
Thanks-
