Default Can't get a good position on Google

Hi all,

I've been using the following site http://www.yahgle.com/ to see where my site www.one-life.me.uk is ranked using the search term "personal trainer nottingham"

On all of the search engines on this site I am top, except Google. Why could that be? I know it is only showing a few links to my site but as Google doesn't show all links, would this be changed on the next update cycle?

Can anyone see any glaring mistakes or problems that would prevent this site from being ranked highly.

Am I doing something that Google would penalise for?

Many thanks in advance

I can see a high keyword density for 'personal trainer nottingham' phrase. Maybe there's some overoptimization filter turned on.
Additionally, your sig contains link to different domain with the same content (I can see a redirection to one-life.me.uk here) - so, there might be some filter for duplicate content.
If I were you, I would lower density, use css to clean code and change urls in order to avoid spaces (%20).

Many thanks Adore,

I have used an external style sheet to reformat the site, hopefully I have done this correctly?

It does seem to have cleaned up the coding, although the shared borders code still seems to dominate proceedings, but I'm unsure what to do with that.

I have changed urls to remove %20 spaces etc.

Fixed the problem with the www.personal-trainers-nottingham.co.uk url.

Also lowered the keyword density.

Many thanks again for the advice. If there is anymore help and advice out there I'm always ready to listen.

I always suggest to gradually optimize the websites so that you will have control over the level of optimization and not get Over Optimization Penalty

Maybe it's in refrence to an over-optimization filter?

Over-optimization penalty? Over-optimization filter?? Please tell us all more about this. As specific as possible, please.

CBP: Thanks. Your opinion on that question (over-optimization penalties) is pretty well accepted among SEO-types, yes?

I think most do - there a some who argue strongly that there is one - I do not think there is.

It all started when Google did its big updates (Florida, Brandy, Austin) and people looked for reasons for the big changes - OOP was speculated then (along with a lot of other things). Some people de-optimized their sites and they came back - others did nothing and they came back. I had a different ceral for breakfast on the day the one site of mone that dropped came back ---- cause and effect???

The only OOP penalty or filter that does exist is the spam. To me over-optimization = spam.

I do think there are things that Google employees have called "quality signals" (either good or bad) that Google looks for, that may be interpreted as an OOP.
