Before the Twitter Deal Google Was Working on it's "Social Search"

Here's a few facts about the new social search product Google has been working on even before the Twitter deal was born:

a. Google Social Search is NOT in real-time.
b. The Social Search algorithm figures out which people you trust and serves content by those people.

...and probably a whole lot more than those two things but so far those are the main functions.

Also apparently people who already use such Google services like GMail or Google Reader will be 'social search ready'...

Well thanks MJT, it's not the hugest deal but eventually someone will find the post informative when it comes to the new product...

Privacy issues may come up in the near future, I wonder how that's going to work...

Post Update: People are actually able to join the Google Social Search experiment and if you need, there is a full list of the Google Social Search features you can browse through to get an idea of what you're getting into...
