Hello,
I have a new forum since 1 month now and its unranked in google. How can I speed up the process of getting at least PR0? I am doing link building right now and I am #12 in SERP for a keyword and I can't advance any further because all the other forums ahead of me have at least PR0.. so page rank matters in some way. I heard that it can help if the domain is registered for more then one year, like 3 at least. Anybody has any idea about this? Should I continue link building for that keyword? If anyone has any experience with this please let me know. <edit by rah> The website in question is: cappersisland.com </edit> regards Last edited by rah; 10-26-2009 at 02:52 PM. ...you could also submit your forum site to free directories...that has helped me immensely in the past...but make sure when you do you set your title (when filling out the form) to be the keywords you're competing for...

Recently I launched a site that completes for some keywords and they registered a new domain as well. They are a very legitimate business offline, and google as cached their site but when it comes to rankings, they aren't in the first 300 search results...
to me this case is simple: their site hasn't been around enough to actually prove to google that they are providing content that people want to see in the search results for those keywords...I have explained to them the need to start linking building and until that is done, I'm not expecting to see them in the SERPs any time soon. This might be the case for you too...

regarding my issue, I would like to know if I will register the domain for 5 years, will it speed up the process of being ranked soonert? also if there are any other things I can do, please tell me. I will continue link building anyway.. |

No, having a domain paid for the next 5 years will not help you. Having a domain that has been registered for the past 5 years would be better than a new one, though ... generally speaking ... Google values age ... of domains, content and links.
There is really nothing to speed up the process other than building links and content ... and traffic. Are you utilizing Twitter and Facebook, etc.?

hmmm, I was thinking about using twitter but haven't started yet. I already have almost 100 members so I can start up with that now. Facebook i'm not sure how to use it since this is a sports forum. I did sign up with some groups e.g. the chargers fans and placed a link there in a page comment when a charger game was about to begin and there was insight on the forum about it, but I guess this type of thing is all that i can do there. thanks for your feedback

Your site is new and it is hard for a new site to advance to the top in serps unless the keywords are very unpopular. Just keep building links and be patient. Your time will come for your hard work.

thanks everyone for your help. from your answers I realize now that all I can do is keep working on this site(link building mostly) and I will see results in time.

I think the key thing here is patience!

Building reputation for a forum takes a bit long time. If some members are helpful from
your forum, then only they would come back and visitors will increase. Then Google sees that this forum is getting visited by people. Then they can think of ranking it. Or give importance to it. And on top of that one month is too short time. You can keep on working for the keywords for the time being. Give at least 6 more months for entire forum to get ranked. |

yes, i think so. your advice was great and pointed in the same direction so I guess I know now I have to keep on working on seo and in time I will see the results. thanks, great forum
