Hi,
I have a old domain which will expire in few days. I need to know methods by which all the rankings are transfered from it to new domain.Note both old and new have same page rank but new domain is having double links than old one. Apart from your suggestions I need to know best way of doing permanant redirect on a IIS hosted domain. Thank You Regards Dax

You can verify it's working by using a header check, and verifying it reports that the redirection is using a 301 redirect code... otherwise, it won't work...

Google and the other search engines have a cached copy of the old websites pages. They need to be told that the old site has been moved. You also need to retain the benefit of the links to the old website where possible. People following old links and search results need to be able to find the new domains pages.

Make sure you redirect all your important pages like for like, if this is done you should retain any listings that your internal pages have achieved, then 301 all other internal pages to either appropriate categories or top level subjects and then everything else can go to the homepage.
doing this will ensure your new domain and urls are spidered from the inside out as well as passing over ownership of serps. good luck |

The OP seems to suggest that he wants to let the original domain expire. Don't do that! You must keep the old domain active, and then follow the advice above.
Apologies if that is too obvious, but sometimes the obvious has to be stated |
