Google toolbar PR and Actual PR

There has been a lot of ambiguity between the Google toolbar PR and Actual PR. The toolbar does not always reflect what Google sees as the site's PR.

But how do we come to know what our actual PR is?

We read threads like this, from beginning to end.
Google Update, PageRank, Backlink Information

Now, that may seem simple enough, but look at the thread below yours (moved to Google) then run through the past five pages of Google threads, and see how many times the same question gets asked. Think of WPW as a vast library,read first. We love good questions, we love giving information but the pagerank one has been done to death.

If you are clever enough, you can figure that out in your Google Webmaster Tools account.

Google tool bar PR is th eactuall PR... many third party tool gives PR but for me found all same... Some time the tools will not give current but after few days will show unique... The webmaster tool not show PR in numbers. show none low medium and high

You can view in Crawl Stats in your GWT the actual PR of each month for the last 3 months.

Does it really matter? Personally I focus on ranking for important key terms rather than what the toolbar says at any given time

Clear to me.. I even agree.. Its the same situation several of us faced in the backlinks thread.. We refused to share certain information and that was used as an excuse to declare us wrong.. However, I think TL may have been trying to be funny..

But I have to sort of agree with Maya, how much effort do people really want to put in to things that may or may not mean anything at all??

Really?

Is it current? Or, might it be but a snapshot taken at some time in the past?

And, since PR is a probability value, which does, by definition, lie between 0 and 1, how can a Toolbar PR greater than 1 be the "actual" PR?
