Is there a PageRank update underway?

Not that it has any effect on the rankings. But I'm pleasantly surprised to see some clients sites going up. It seems that over the last couple of years, large well established sites have been on a downward trend dropping from PR4s or 5s down to 3's.

I've never indulged in PR sculpting using no-follows etc and have always supported drip-feeding as much quality copy on to sites as possible so perhaps I've just been diluting the PR over time.

OK Guys I'm stepping in here. In WPW there are so many 'stickies' on the pagerank debate. So, to each of you I ask one simple question. Do you read the stickies on Pagerank?

If not please do. There are 2 pageranks - One is REAL and the Other is a Gimmick.

The real one is Internal Pagerank that constantly updates.

The other is the green pixels on the Google toolbar. Ignore it - it has no bearing on anything to do with SERP. Most pro's have already dropped the toolbar, it's only spyware after all. Why not follow suit.

Me too find this time many sites are in pr6 since yrs but now in pr3... Do not find much diff in the site.. may be Google doing something in their algorithem

Mmm, a fascinating activity it is to see a brand new point added

However, I figure mentioning green pixels of any kind may turn out dangerous - just imagine weekly threads entitled "How do I boost my rep in three days" or "My rep went red overnight - please help"...

It most certainly can affect rankings, I see it all the time. I too have been screwed by G once again. Went from PR5, to TWO!! TWO!!! And I got ruined in the SERP's as well! TWELVE YEAR OLD website with several THOUSAND IBL's according to the G WMT area, and now those several thousand IBL's, according to G, have dropped to.......79!!!!! I had a poplular PR4 internal page drop to ZERO!! Jerks. Like I just said in another thread: "As William mentioned about "devaluing links", obviously they have had yet another "brain hemorrhage" and deleted a few more billion pages from their index: The G WMT area was showing a few thousand IBL's for me. Now?? 79!!!!! So because these jerks deleted all of those other webpages and websites from their index, I (we) too get ruined because of it, proving once again their IBL-based philosophy is totally anencephalic and is ruining the internet and destroying businesses and lives."
