Huge drop in traffic from Google

A couple of days ago I experienced a major problem with my Wordpress blog. I updated to the 2.8 version and something went hay-wire. Many others reported major problems as well.

When this technical mess hit my code, for two days the traffic from Google searches dropped by two hundred visitors a day until I got it fixed. That's a 2/3 decrease. My analytics graph looks like Mount Rushmore.

We haven't updated yet. Guess I'm glad we didn't. BTW -- never upgrade immediately if your blog is working. Wait a couple weeks and make sure any new kinks are worked out.

yeah, I had a problem on a previous update, now I install the new version to a test subdomain and point it to the same database to check everything before I upgrade my live blog. The main problem I've necountered is when my theme uses depricated functions that are dropped from the wordpress code.

I don't use many plugins, and have upgraded to 2.8 smoothly. No error at all.

This is most probably a temporarily decrease in the traffic.
For how long did your site experienced this issue?

Was your site offline/down?

If yes, then for how much time?

Googel traffic is base don the keyword.. So how was ur keyword position on that time... and too much diff?... Some time google showing this issue after idex the site or update.. And after a while its return back to originel... may be this isssue from diff datacenters... THats why wants to confirm its by updating the site

i suppose that this is a wordpress problem that your site didn't get indexed quite well when the google bot was on your site.

Not only blogs my regular websites also affected from last google updates. My traffic is down for my main keywords too. Me too in serious trouble.

It's almost 25 days, how is the current traffic? Do you observe the same low traffic?

You can directly complain to google to know the excat mistakes you made or look into webmaster tools. Anyhow hope good luck for you.

Always plan your actions with adequate backup or recovery plans.
