Hello,
After some months of searching and trying on some SEO methods, I have learned some good methods to get on Google first page. 1. The title should be keyworded but not too long. 2. First page should have some bold keywords. 3. First page should have some content, instead of pictures or graphics. What do you think? Your methods may be different. Please share. <add this to your signature please> Last edited by crankydave; 05-23-2009 at 10:21 AM. |

Hi,
I think there is a lot more too it than those points, which number is especially valid, not sure about the other two if I am totally honest. When you say bold keywords, do you mean h1 and h2 titles, which are important? In terms of getting onto first page, all depends on your search term, some are easy, most are not. I think its all down to hard work, content and seo techniques (which I and others have mentioned in a post just a few down from here). There are lots of good posts about how to do this here, worth reading through them.

I would also post a meta description using keywords. Also use image alt tags that include keywords.Additionally you need back links from related reputable websites.

For what keywords? None of those things will help you out all unless you have links coming into your site. It's all about the links. |

so do you really think its all about links ???? i mean having good ranking in serp ??? i don't think so , i think if you have unique and very user friendly content on your site , and you just have some back links from site those relevant to your sites niche and also have some pr will boost your SERP Ranking , maybe i am wrong but i notice that google cares about quality more then quantity , and also google cares about age of domain too ... For some high competitors keywords |

These terms only appear in links pointing to this page: computers I'll most likely believe that it's all about the links. |

You can rank your keyword by means of anchor text..This is a text that has a link on it..Sample of this anchor text usage is your forum sig, resource on your article submission, body of your web pages, and in blog commenting and posting..

Header tags(H1 thru H6) help you to increase your rankings in search engines. These tags are organized in a hierarchy with H1 being the most important tag and H6 the least important tag.
H1 tag should be placed at the top of your page. Only use one H1 tag per page. The H2 tag is next important tag which is used as subheading. This tag is lesser important than the H1 tag, but still of high importance for search engine Search engines like good content and based upon your content they decide where to place you on the SERPs.Well optimized content always drives more traffic to your web site into top position in Search engines.

Its the links that make or break your competition or your success. On-Page and Off-Page both go hand in hand. To increase the relevancy you need to have employed good on-page and not aggressive one. But for links you need to be aggressive (quality with quantity).
Still, main factor for ranking are the links! Regards,

You need more than that to get on first page of google and backlink building is a very important factor.

I would just once like someone who claims keyword density to be so important to have some form of actual evidence to back it up, or even a method of working out keyword density. there are lots of tools that will work it out for you but will give you different percentages for the same page. - im not saying its not important, but how do we know so, and how can you properly evaluate it?

I think there is a huge diff between onsite and off site seo optimization to rank, you really need to both in order to rank well, onsite stuff is important, you should submit a sitemap and robots.txt as well as a clean keyword heavy titles, and meta tags.
backlinks important as well, write articles, press releases and more. |

The title of a page should describe the content of the page. Title should is written in a way that it perfectly describes what the user will see/get in the page.
Use bold/underlying etc is it benefits the visitors in anyway. Doing this just for SEs, will not help much [or will not help at all] Pages need to have the required content in them. The content needs to be written for the users. If in a particular page, just picture is needed to be added, then I guess it is ok. Add content to such pages if it benefits the users.

Without blowing my own trumpet - there is nothing mentioned in any of these posts that I haven't done. I am on the first page for all my keywords and keyphrases and often in the top 3. However, I have been dumped back to page 4 for my main and most important keyword, except on Google Slovania, Bulgaria, Spain and some middle and far eastern countries where I remain on the first page.
Some of you on this discussion may recognise me from another post on this subject and I don't really want to get into this anomoly again here. Suffice to say that it's completely wierd! Despite my success in SEO I still maintain that the entire Google search setup is over-simplified and fundementally flawed. There is a danger of the same thing happening on the internet as on the high street in recent years. That large corporations take over and dominate position and rank destroying smaller competitive businesses that steal potential customers. I don't want to believe this. Whilst I'm sure a few of these corporate giants would sway the scales in their favour by any means possible, I would like to believe that Google are part of the solution rather than the problem. They do have the opportunity to prove that by rethinking the entire search setup from the ground up. For example, responses to certain search queries should be a question not a suggestion. In my humble opinion, at the moment, Google search results for short, vague or generic queries are pretty trashy, full of guesses as to what the surfer is looking for. There is a need based on refinement of search results by questioning a query rather than delivering up millions of guesses in random order. Another example, when it comes to online shops and stores, there should be a clear divide between those who have bricks and mortar outlets and those that are internet based only. This can so easily be recorded at the site submission stage and could be critical to the survival of online only businesses upon which lives depend. Imagine today's rapidly growing major cities and their associated volumes of traffic, but with street signs and traffic controls from the sixties and you might have some idea how ridiculously outdated the Google search system is. It seems more and more website owners are wrestling with the Google algorythm in order to survive or get seen and in a deserately tight economy the last thing we need is to spend a fortune of hungry SEO companies wringing their hands in glee at the sheer volume of website owners lost at sea!! I apologise if this is comment only and perhaps not specifically relevant to this topic but I felt it needed saying. |

I don't think there is any fixed keyword density to follow. One should be natural in writing the web content. Content is for visitors not for robots.
