Default Help needed please

Hi, I need help, as I am completely stumped. I built my site in Jan and submitted it for review. At that time, I was getting 3-6 orders per day faithfully. Since I have rebuilt in the past few weeks, I have not received one order, and I was getting my business from google, in our keywords, we were showing on the 1st or second page on Google. (I would inquire customers how they found us) Now, it looks as if we are not even showing on google, yet it looks to me as our page has a ranking of 4. Please, someone help solve the mystery as to why we have come to a dead stop in business..... and on the google search

Default could it be

When I rebuilt the site, I added a menu navigation bar and it is a script. I put the code under the title of the pages, and then the meta tags came next. This was the only change I really made to make the site easy to get around on. Today I moved the script below the meta tags and title. (still doing it) Could this be the reason for my drop in sales and search engine results? Before I did this, I was showing 1,2 or 3rd on every google search for different keywords. I have not changed any key word, but did expand the site to carry the product list on one page and then an individual page for each product. Will this hurt me? Should I have left all the products on one page and should I have left buttons for each product rather then the navigation bar at the top? I am stumped, we were doing so good until i changed all this, due to the advice of the review your site people. Please help if you can...... Thanks!

First of all note that(as it was sayed many times buy people more experienced then me) there is no direct relation between the page rank and the listings.
After a very fast search at google for 2 (random) words wrom your main page you do not seem to be anywhere in the first 20 websites.
Also It seems like only your main page is indexed. I'm not an expert on crawlers but there may be an issue between the java script you use and the fact that the crawler in simply unable to see the other page and index them.
I have no exact answer to this problem but I hope other memebers of the forum will be more helpfull.

Default script and crawling

Thanks for trying. Yes, I accidently had the java sript under the title,I did this when I rebuilt, and was wondering if that could be the cause for the engine not being able to crawl, because before I did this, the pages were crawled and also showing in google and we were getting 3-6 orders per day. Does anyone know if when I put the script under the title that this could be the cause of the failure to appear in the search, and if I move the script under the meta tags, will that improve things to going back to the way they were?

I feel I need to explain more my reference to the "Javascript". I'm not sure if the spiders are actually able to see the links you provide in the top(floating) menu.

Default script menu

So, if I put text links to other pages on the site, on the bottom of each page, do you think that would help?

Experts may correct me but as far as I know this is alway helpfull not only for the search engines but also for Usability of your website.
That is some users may have disabled sertain Java scripts or may run Mozilla that simply does not allow sertain java script executions.
Finally, If tou really want to see the way spider sees your website(approximately, obviously) just open it in some basic navigator(more basic even then Mozilla).

Default script and crawling

OK, so I put text links to other pages on my site, and I put them on all the main pages, there are about 35 pages. Should I also put the text links on every sub page? Or do you think that the main pages would be enough? It doesn't look the nicest, that is why I went from text/button links to the other pages to the java script menu. BUT when I had the button/text links, we were showing on google and we were getting orders. What do you think? Links to the main pages on the individual product pages? Or just the main pages... Thanks for helping!

Hi stuff4beauty2

It's best to stick with plain old HTML for links. Create a Site map and link to it from your homepage with a standard a href link. This way you can keep your floating menu ad have googlebot work its way through your site.

The solution proposed by Dave Hawley seems to be the most appropriate specially that it may also help some users to find their way around in the website.

Also some great solutions use small fonts links in the bottom of each page(standardized trough all the website). This links should link to some key pages on your site and have as main purpose to help the user that reached the end of the page and spiders find their way around in the website.

A good example is this forum(the links may be even smaller though but then they will be more directed towards spiders then users).

Be very careful doing this. Google dislikes serving up one thing to spiders and another to humans. Small links are OK, but they must be readable by humans.
