One of my sites jumped from a pr3 to pr6. But all of them went up a at least a point.

Good update.

Default New Update as of 3/16/2004

Looks like there was another Google Update, or at least a refresh of what the googlebot has been spying. I didn't notice an increase in Page Rank, but did notice an increase in the number of links. No big surprises, it seems like this is now happening every month.

My toolbar PR increased. I went from PR3 to PR5 and from 9 backlinks showing to 180 backlinks showing.

Of course, this is meaningless since the mysterious Google algorithm has continued to "disrespect" my web site with unflattering SERPS.

My guess is that my site will rank well the day I no longer care. Thanks to my Google-induced stoicism, that day is coming soon.

Yep, my main directory site has just jumped from PR2 > PR5

I thought it might be something to do with the fact that I have just uploaded a completed site map, but from what others here are saying, this may just be good timing.

What has bugged me is that I have just done a rank check and I have all but disapeared using my normal search phrases on Google. All other SE's I have stayed the same or slightly gone up.... Go figure...

It's worth remembering that nothing is truly static at Google - the tweaks are onging all the time - and that as things creep or roll along, as the case may be, there are changes which are often more-or-less temporary.

It's also worth remembering that PR does not equal ranking in the search engine results. In this latest tweak, my PR dropped slightly, as did another site I'm associated with professionally. However, my two main competitors also saw PR drops, greater than either of my sites, and so in the end my search engine placements are either the same or slightly improved for my 4 major search phrases.

Great point Minstrel. The philosopher Heraclitus would be proud :)

Default Seems to be old Data

Seems to be old data though.

Many new client pages more than 4 or 5 weeks old now have PRs, but anything newer than 4 or 5 weeks still are not ranked.

Maybe they are playing catch-up.

I can only agree with Ken. None of my backlinks seem to be from the last few weeks.

Of course, Google updates PR and backlinks internally on a more frequent schedule, but it makes one wonder (again) about the internal updates.

No. At least two sites with which I am associated are showing up with new backlinks and PR. One has had only limited promotion in the past few weeks and in fact all but the home page was password protected until about 2 weeks ago. Another just launched two days ago and wasn't really spidered until a week ago.

This is new data...

One of my websites has been up for about 6mos and has had no PR. This morning I check and it's up to a PR of 3 for most pages on the site. I checked a couple of minutes ago and now back to PR 0...what the? I don't get it! Has Google lost it's mind??

Yes, the PR update is there one minute and gone the next. Five minutes ago, my toolbar PR was 3. Now it is back to 5 if I don't put a slash at the end of the website address.

I had 3 of my sites go from PR0 to PR5 last night but it has disappeared also. All back to PR0 right now.

Even after getting a PR of 5 it didn't increase any of my traffic at all.

I could be wrong but shouldn't there be some increase in traffic after going from PR0 to PR5? :)

Who knows what's going on anymore???

The toolbar PR only reflects what Google has already known internally for some time. PR is not as important as it used to be (just like Google :)

For example, I have seen worthless forum web pages with no PR and no backlinks outranking respectable, relevant sites.

Also, if a site favored by Google's algorithm uses a keyword once on any page, that page may rank in the top ten even if the page is not relevant.

Sorry to deflate you, but the PR you now have from the public available toolbar would have already been taken into account by Google internally for the search results some time ago. DOn't expect a traffic increae or an increase in rankings from this (you would have already got it) -

I figured as much but I've been having a bad week since whatever happened at Google Sunday and wanted to try and remain a little optimistic.

I'm still scratching my head on trying to figure out how my site dropped so bad in just one day and has never recovered.

Anyway it's nice to see my PR jump from 0 to 5!

Default I've been dropped...

My backlinks increased- though they are woefully shy of the actual number and my PR on my index page dropped from a 5 down to a 4...no rhyme of reason so far as I can tell.
Let's see what shakes out...
