What exactly means "Getting a website out of Sandbox?"

Hi all,

i have been out of the forum for a while.

i got a few questions.
1. How to identify a website getting sandboxed?
2. what should we do, if our site gets sand boxed?
3. what might be the time it takes for a relatively new website to get out of the sand box?

There are a lot of difference reasons for a site being sandboxed and the reason they are sandboxed determines the amount of time it takes to get out of the sandbox.

I’ve got one site that has been in the sandbox for around 6 months because we changed the topic.

The problem with changing the topic of a website is that a lot of people will build a site on one topic, get a lot of links and then change the site over into another topic. Like porn.
For this reason when a site changes topics it sets off some alarms.

I’ve got around 4 sites that are sandboxed for adding pages too quickly. I talked with some other people who are having the same problem and was told that some of their sites have been in the sandbox for over a year.

Once a site is in the sandbox getting it out can be a little tough. I’ve not tried to get any of mine out however, if I was going to try I’d start by driving a lot of traffic to the sites and continue doing whatever it was that got me in the sandbox in the first place.

If the site can build trust and make Google believe that it’s just how that site works it will most likely be okay.

If I had a new site and wanted to avoid the sandbox then I would build the site on an established domain name’s subdomain, get my links, content and everything online and working as well as ranking and then forward it over to the new site.

I agree that sandbox still exists. However, I have worked with caution not to get my site into it.

Your theory sounds correct. Google is a algorithm and the sandbox is to keep the net clean from page spammers, etc. Now if your site had tons of traffic such as you stated and you continue with what you were doing I too believe this would reverse the sandbox effect. However, may slow you down for a few months or so until the sandbox is reversed.

That answer works for me as well. We have launched 7 sites since 01/2007 and none of them ended up in a sandbox.
