Default Do .edu and .gov links really matter?

This is one that has been around forever. The basic understanding is that links from educational and government sites were more valuable. I have never really bought into this one. I always considered it a myth, but I had no proof. Then I read an interview from Matt Cutt’s on the subject.
He gave a very interesting answer that indicated that there is no extra advantage. You will want to read this.
