A couple of weeks back a client of mine contacted me to tell me his son was marketing Barack Obama T Shirts via a website. He "suggested" I gave him a hand. As a bit of added value I gave the site a plug on my blog with a link. See: Barack Obama T Shirts UK

I also created a link or two elsewhere. I thought nothing further of it. Until this week, that is, when my blog started receiving traffic for the term "Barack Obama T-Shirts" and related terms. Checking it out I find that my blog is ranked 2nd for the term. My client's son's website is 6th. What is interesting, and it poses as a question, is the relationship between on page and off page influences. With regards to the term in question my blog has only on page presence. Whereas the Barack Obama T-Shirt website has both on and off page influences. Yet the blog prevails. At least in the present.
