Angry Another Google penalty question

Hey there friends,

I recently took over a Private Investigator website. The owner has several identical websites, same template, same text, same keyword stuffing, same white text on white background. The previous webmaster even went to a government page about Private Investigators, cut and pasted the entire page links and all, to the bottom of the home page in white. Private investigator - retired NYPD detectives New York NY NJ CT

I've completely rewritten the website, started a link exchange, submitted to directories and engines. It has only been one month but I haven't cracked into Google's top 60 for my keywords and I'm starting to get ranked in Yahoo. Still a little more tweeking going on.

Okay, here come the questions.

The domain name is only a few months old, should I start over with a new domain name?

Should I keep the domain name and beg Google to reconsider?

Where do I submit for Google's re-evaluation?

Thanks, Lou

Also, should I report all of the old webmaster websites for black hat techniques?

No need to submit reinclusion since the site is in the index.

You do still have work to do on the site itself so I think it's a bit premature to toss the domain aside. At the very least, the duplicated page titles aren't helping you.

Sounds like you just need to continue optimizing and the engines will pick you up as they gain confidence in the website. Make sure that all the junk SEO work is removed completely from the website as well.

My first impression of viewing your homepage source is that it looks like a brick wall to search engines(looks like Frontpage on acid). There is no indexable content to speak of.

You're using a swf object code for you Flash and have no alternate content.

My guess it's not the domain that is your problem.

I noticed that you have a lot of formatting in the page code itself, which I would move to an external style sheet. Also, you have tables on your site, which if removed, would make the site more easily crawled. And, I agree with the previous post - you need more content. Have you thought about starting a blog for the site?

Sounds like they did some bad things from the beginning on these website. I think the easiest route might be to buy a new domain and start over.

I think you can clean up the site and get back into the good graces of Google. I hate for you to have to start over. How about a complete re-design, some new original content, and some tender loving care?

Dump the flash If I came across this site looking for the services offered, the last thing I would want is to be distracted by bouncing
flash all over the place, telling me how good you are. bad for search engines who also don't like it. I think the quoted term that come to mind is that shows my age is "give me the facts"

Thanks friends,
Lots of great information and encouragement.

I will work on the website some more, I will drop the flash, and I will make changes.

I have checked out the site and the flash really annoyed me..it takes to long to get into the details of what the site is about..too heavy for a common user...and one thing go for more on page optimization specially on the meta data..the description looks like more keywords to me...try to use also css for targeted keywords h1 tags this will help in optimizing the page...Check out also the site structure it should be SE friendly to help robots crawl the site..

Well, first of all, a new domain needs time. But besides that, you really need to clean up the html code.

Example:
<p style="line-height: 150%; margin-top: 4px; margin-bottom: 4px">&nbsp;</p>
<h2><b><font face="Verdana" size="3"><span lang="en-us">New York
Private Investigators with experience</span></font></b></h2>
<p style="line-height: 200%; margin-top: 4px; margin-bottom: 4px">
<font face="Verdana">If you are looking for a solution to your
problem, if you are seeking the answers to the questions gnawing at
your insides, if you want the truth that seems just out of your
reach, take the next step - Call <span lang="en-us">us toll-free
</span></font><b>
<span style="font-family:&quot;Verdana&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;">
1-866-357-4769<span lang="en-us">. </span></span></b>
<font face="Verdana" size="2">The solution you’ve been looking
for<span lang="en-us">:</span></font></p>

That should look like this:
<h2>New York Private Investigators with experience</h2>
<p>If you are looking for a solution to your problem, if you are seeking the answers to the questions gnawing at your insides, if you want the truth that seems just out of your reach, take the next step - Call us toll-free <b>1-866-357-4769</b>. The solution you've been looking for.</p>

Not dificult to do, but it can be quite a lot of work. Perhaps you need to learn a bit more about css.
