Default Different Results In Different Locations?

i am in costa rica and when i google taxidermy for sale, the #1 result is my site taxidermyforsale.com and #3 is another site i created allgametaxidermy.com...BUT when i had a friend in New Jersey google the same thing, taxidermyforsaleonline.com was nowhere and allgametaxidermy.com was #15 ...what is up with this?

i remember reading something about different results in different areas, but this is a little extreme? why would i come up #1 from costa rica, but nothing from the states? my host is in the states(i think)

allso, allgametaxidermy.com is a shop in new jersey that offers some items for sale, why would that be #3 in costa rica, but #15 in the states.

and most importantly, how can i optimize for the search results in a different location...and other than asking a frient to google stuff for me, how can i see what results are being displayed in various regions?

because that is the way search works fro Google sometimes.

If I was in Toledo, Ohio and looking for a plumber would I want to see plumbers in California?

yes i understand that, and that is what i am saying... why would united states websites show up higher in a search in costa rica than in their home state? in new jersey, the site from the taxidermy shop in jersey comes back #15, BUT in costa rica it is number 3.

and is there some way that i can check the results that other see in their part of the world?

c'mon, nobody can give me any answers about what is going on here? incrediblehelp? Anybody...this is really frustrating and i'd like to at least know how i can see how my pages rank...number one ranking in costa rica, but nowhere in the states, what kind of crap is that? and do i really have to have a friend in the states check results for me as the results that google gives me here are way off from the results that somebody in the states would get. wtf?

Thats why google have different extension such as google.com.au, google.com.ph..etc.. If your site is targetting a specific country, you might want to visit that google and check your rankings there and also check the general google.com

Google has many different data centers and your friend might be searching from a location that pulls data from a different Google data center. If you are seeing drastic differences in various data centers, then this is temporary and within a week or so the results will sync.

There was a tool that I used to use to compare my seo results at the various data centers, but I noticed their site is down today. If their site comes back online, you will find it useful: www.mcdar.net - /

You can rank higher in a specific location if you get more backlinks form that location. For example it helps that if you are trying to rank well in google.co.uk that if you get backlinks from .co.uk websites. That's $1000 thanks,

And also to have a domain ext for a particular region you want to rank on and having a site hosted in that region. It'll be just a $100 for me though, LOLs
