For those that care the Google TBPR values should be exporting to a browser near you over the next few days:
New Toolbar PageRanks coming |
|
||||
|
This is most important to me:
Matt Cutts Said, July 24, 2008 @ 6:38 pm Jim Gaudet, normally we do a new push of toolbar PageRanks every 3-4 months. So normally they do a new push of toolbar PageRank every 3-4 months and not exacty every third month. Good to know. So hopefully it will reflect stable semantic IBL's links (Google's measure of the importance of (votes for) a page). My own comment: "In my opinion, toolbar pagerank is a measuere of stable semantic IBL's, in other words, Google's relatively stable measure of the importance of a page, a reflection or mirror of what I call Google's adaptive inverted link matrix model of the web, real meaningful citations or votes if you prefer a non mathematical language. I personally do not know of a better software (BOT) model in 2008. It is the outcome of a complex system like temperature is the outcome of a partly known high dimensional system. In a sense, a projection from that system to the thermometer or the temperature metric represented by a single number. Toolbar pagerank should not be confused with SERP position that so many webmasters do. Neither should it be confused with directory or internal PageRank that may fluctuate from day to day". My sites got better PR. I think that got something to do with the fact Google threw away many pages to the supplemental index but I am not sure.
Something changed in Google - and sounds like this is a good change. One of my sites is a very good content site and didn't get many back links lately and still the tbpr better. |

I also got 2 for my new site.

Matt Cutts Said,
July 25, 2008 @ 10:24 pm Darren, the toolbar PageRank display is not linear. It’s more than twice as hard to get a PR6 compared to a PR3, for example. That confirms what some of us, but not everybody already knew, that toolbar PageRank display is not linear.

This is sort of news, but the truly remarkable event for this weekend is Jaan starting a TBPR thread

Is this update finished or it's on going?

Sigh!
Another PR update, another disappointment for many, bewilderment for many others. I thought webmasters got over this whole PR thing ages ago. Over the past year my PR has dropped on my sites frmo 5 to 4 to sometimes 3, but the rankings have climbed steadily, as has the traffic. I've given up worrying about PR. They've evidently created much large bands for each level, My original site is a strong 4, so strong that many of the pages below it are a 4 as well (without strong ibls to deep pages). I've seen other mickey mouse sites with far less links counted by also a 4. Lots of pages are now grey. Sure I use PR to decide whether to take a link partner seriously, but that's about it.
