Hi Everyone,
I was very excited to see that Google is now giving actual numbers for the Search Volume stats. Several of the keywords that come up in the results have the result of "Insufficient Data". Does "Insufficient Data" mean that the tool simply didn't find enough info to give a result or does it mean that the keyword isn't searched for? In other words, should I interpret the "Insufficient Data" result to mean I just don't get to know the search volume or that the keyword has no search volume? Thanks. LesterJ

The search volume stats appear to put into bands, lookup some various keywords and you will soon see that they are grouped into ranges. My guess is that the "Insufficient Data" just means the volume is too low.

Thanks for the replies.
It sounds like I shouldn't assume anything more than what the tool is telling me, that it has insufficient data. I did, however, hear in the Google forum from a guy who said that in his experience every keyword he's seen the "insufficient data" result for ended up not getting any impressions. That's just anicdotal, but curious. After all, you would think that Google could manage to at least have results to give even if the result was 0 searches. incrediblehelp - Thanks for the tip on the article. I read the article and thought it was pretty interesting, though I thought the test wasn't very well setup and the conclusions had a lot of assumption and inacurate statements. The most interesting part of the article, I thought, was that Google predicted about 903 searches a day and the ad got 803 impressions. That's pretty close. I ran a similar type of test on WordTracker estimates and the test indicated that WordTracker's info was pretty inaccurate. I may have to run some tests myself on the Google numbers and see if what I find. LesterJ
