You can read more here Media Viper

What do you think of this announcement?

Are you excited?

Will you join the new Affiliate Network??

  1. May be more foccused. A direct competitor to CJ, LS, TradeDoubler etc.
  2. I thought it should be sold.
  3. No change for AdSense?

No reactions to this topic that should be of general interest.

"Google Affiliate Network: As part of the integration of DoubleClick, the DoubleClick Performics Affiliate Network will now operate as the Google Affiliate Network for advertisers targeting users located in the United States".

My bolding. Questions:
  1. What are the implications for AdSense users outside the USA?
  2. What about earned AdSense money less than USD 100 by the millions of webmasters using Google?
"AdSense for content ads: If you have less than three AdSense for content ad units on a page, you may wish to replace the referral ad units with standard AFC ad units".

What does that mean?

Does it mean that you can sign up with the new network and continue with better and more advanced options if you are accepted?

As a part of Adsense program there was an ad unit called "referral ad program" which is retired. If you used the code you may wish to replace it with the ordinary Adsense For Content code.

If you liked the referral program, you may consider enrolling into the new affiliate program.

That is not how I understand it.

"Thank you for participating in the AdSense Referrals program. We’re writing to let you know that we will be retiring the AdSense Referrals program during the last week of August. We appreciate your patience during this transition and here are some alternative options to consider:

'''''''''''''''''''''''''

If you currently use referral ads, either to promote Google products or offerings from AdWords advertisers, AdSense Referrals code will no longer display ads beginning the last week of August. We encourage you to take the following steps before the product is retired"

How do you interpret that?

What about little less than USD 100 earned by millions of small companies all over the world? Nothing is said in the email about that. It will not ruin me, and the amount is so small that it is rediculous compared to the support I have given Google on my sites.

Does Google make the assumption that everybody will join the new network?

This is mildly said "unprofessional".

The email they send out is unprofessional. (A non-reply email about suspending your account (as I interpret the email) and no information about the amount earned so long).

Excuse me if there are misunderstanding.

It is a misunderstanding.

With the referral program you basically promoted only two products: Firefox browser and AdWords program itself (as a banner).
If you earned anything from it, it just stays in your Adsense account. You are free to continue happy running your Adsense content ads as before.

P.S. I see there were also Google Pack and Picassa included in referrals.

Yes I see it when I reread the email today.

It is related to AdSense referrals that I have luckily not used so long. That part of the program will also IMO be better with DoubleClicks / Googles affiliate network.

IMO the AdSense concept is so easy and fast to to use. And design format and colour is not changed and programs stopped as has happend by other providers. That gives less broken links on my sites too. That is the prime reason I use AdSense on my pages. You do not need approval for every new site and product

Thank you for your response. You get a green rep point for the info.

Here https://www.google.com/adsense/suppo...py?topic=14882 is the link.

And as I am a member of the Performics network, I am already a member. No approval needed. Great. Checked it today. Tomorrow I start on a week holiday.

We live in 2008, so hopefully direct commision transfer to your bank account is (soon becomes) possible.

Interesting announcement from GAN for (big) publishers:

I have tested the network by applying for two relevant providers. First impression:
  1. One provider I asked to join. I get automatic approval with a link in the email response that I could paste into my site. I could decide on the anchor text myself. That is good. It took a few minutes before the link became active.
  2. One program that I was invited to join. They required manual approval, so I got an email with a message that approval could take weeks. This could have been better IMO. Invited programs should let you in automatically since they ought to have found your site relevant for their Ads. Think of it, you may join a network with thousands of adverticers and can drown in bureaucratic email correspondence. IMO you should have an option in the software to only receive emails from advertisers that has found your site interesting and thus accepted you. In the reply email there should be a lot of text and banner links that you can paste into your site without having to log in.
  3. So the affiliate software program coiuld have been better. Hopefully, it will be changet to the better when Google get control of it.
