I have not compared the two but it looks a lot like alexa.

I agree with the article. If Google is going to post information about other sites and refuse to post their own then they should get rid of the tool.

At this time it is nothing more than a duplicate of what we already have.

It's is similar to alexa but the pattern is different It's about keywords being searched and not traffic I am planning to use it write correct title for my long tail inner pages

I could find nothing with a tail on. let alone a long tail.

Google trends is simply showing search trends just like Yahoo Buzz does.

Enter three keywords into the interface: Led Zeppelin, Elvis, Shakira

Then you can see a chart on how many searches Google users did on these keywords in chart form over time.
