Default Getting Reconsidered - need help

About a month and a 1/2 ago I set up a website for my company.
At the time I used another company's website as a basic template..
Totally different content/graphics and industries. One feature I liked on
the other site was a rotating set of pictures on the front page.
Underneath those pictures was a bunch of text.. Hidden text. Unfortunatly
I didn't know any better and went with it.. I also had 5 other dns domains
pointing to the same content without redirects. Stupid I know.. I've learned
a TON since then and really cleaned everything up. I know I am under
some sort of penalty with google since I am not even in the search
results for my own domain name let alone my keywords.

I just submitted my site for reconsideration with google.

Can ya'll use your expertise and give my site a quick once over for
ANY issues google might not like? I REALLY need to get listed for my
keywords. IMHO our site is probably the best site content wise for
"TV Screen protector" but we dont even showup. We have a ton of
content and I add to it all the time. I am looking for any
feedback you can offfer.

TV-Armor - TV Screen Protectors protect your TV

Thanks,
Mike

Google has indexed 25 pages of your website (between May 22 and June 12). You show up at #56 for "tv screen protector".

Use SheerSEO.com (free, SheerSEO - SEO software, search engine optimization tools, tracking software, monitoring, google position, free seo software, yahoo, website promotion software)) to track your keywords.

Looks like I just got out of troublke with google.. I am now #56 for my keyword "tv screen protector"

Any suggestions on how I can improve my ranking? There is a lot of stuff unrelated to
"tv screen protector" between #1 and my position. Is it just a matter of time?

Any suggestions on how I can further improve my position?

TV-Armor - TV Screen Protector - Protect your TV!

Thanks,
Mike

There are a few things you can do that may help.

1. Your title. No one searches your site name and you're not selling your site name so why is it first in your title? I would change the title to:
Code:
<title>tv screen protector - protect your TV with screens from TV-Armor</title>
2. Your description. The closer to the beginning of the description your keywords are, the more important they are. I would change your description to:
Code:
<meta name="description" content="TV screen protectors from TV Armor protects your TV from damage saving you money.">
3. For brownie points change your shop.php name to tvscreenprotectors.php

4. Get backlinks with good anchor text.

Thankyou.. all very good suggestions. I've implemented the first two already.

Any other suggestions?

Do new sites tend to move up over time naturally if they are more relavent for the keywords then sites above them? Or is #56 where I will stay if I do nothing?

Thanks,
Mike

Well, as of today, it looks like you have done something right.

Your website came in 3rd on a google search for TV Screen Protector.

Also, it seems that you have an adwords account and you show up in the sponsored listing.

I wonder if that helped?

You cant ask questions which are this general and get much more than small tips - no ones gonna spend the time to write up a comprehensive response to that question. The title tag suggestion was probably the best suggestion you'll get.

Most questions which come up on WPW could have easily been solved with a search on Google. I only ask a question after i've researched other online resources and not been able to make up my mind or find the correct answer.

Would you ask a doctor... how do i cure people when theyre ill?

Thanks iniertia.. that was actually asked over a month and a 1/2 ago.. not sure why
this got brought up again... but it appears to have resolved itself.

Google looks like it has begun to trust my domain, infact it now has PR 2 for
the home page and most of the internal pages are pr4.

I am in position 3 for my keywords on google and I am happy overall. Obviously
now the goal is to knock my competitor out of position one and cut back on my ad words
costs.

Thanks Mike
