The best Search engine opens for a lot of interpretations:

1. The best native: Google in my opinion. Yahoo may be better on niches like finance.
2. The best meta: Clusty the clustering search engine ?

Some will mean that the SE that produces less spam like Factbites: Where results make sense is the best. But not in my opinion of the following reason. A search engine may be free of spam, but not produce the last results in science.
