This is a very interesting and strange behavior of Google keyword tool when it comes down to the keywords of certain big brands.
Try it yourself - type iPod or eBay into the tool, choose global, or USA or UK - and you will see what it shows. I have shared certain hypothetical suggestions about keyword research tool behavior, but I am not Google, I cannot know this for sure. I would like to invite the SEO minds to share their thoughts about why this might happen and what impact it can produce on the market. Does it mean we see the beginning of squeezing us away from being too successful in some niches?

No, Google has been in lawsuits regarding Trademarked Brand names and has settled with many of the large companies that did not want Google selling their Trademarks to competitors so they could divert traffic to their sites using these terms.

Very interesting, thanks for the feeddback. In case you can drop a link to some news about it, that would be great, but I will also search the news myself.
P.S. Why aren't these brands targeting other big search engine tools then? The amount of people who are using them is huge. And when Google tool is not helping, people do there (I mean WordTracker, Keyword Discovery)

Google has been involved in many lawsuits over selling trademarked terms to the competition and to settle these cases they limit how trade brands can be used within their system.

Thanks for the assistance on shorcuttung to info, but I have a question.
As far as I see it is prohibited (well, big brands try to prohibit) to bid on the brand keywords. But it is not prohibited to research the keywords in Google. Or is it?
