Why people loves Page Rank (PR)?
I still dont understand,
Now a days website without having higher PR doing good at SERP's,
Though there are few people who really love PR more than SERP rankings.
Wht they think like this?
As every one knows PR is worthless.

Pr has no efefct on SERP. I'm also confused with people who is more consern on their PR than their ranking in SERP.

Of the millions of webmasters online, can you mention 10?

Some people think that if they've high PR then they got high ranking on serps.... may be one of the reason... but they really don't know that PR make no difference in ranking....

PR is about IBL's and IBL's are food for Bots that may take a closer look at the content of your page.
In my personal view, inbound links with focused, relevant, contextual and semantic anchor text is one important of the more than 200 factors that result in your position on the SERP's.
It is no disadvantage that those links are stable, so take my advice on not changing the content of the page that the link points to in a fundamental way.
If the link goes to a page / site about apples, don't change content or redirect the URL to to a page / site that has a story about tomatos. You may be identified as a content spammer and in the worst case banned by serious librarians.
Conclusion:
Semantic IBL's that is part of a web that make a story comparable to mozaic where the whole picture is much more valuable than the sum of the individual parts are important in Google's adaptive inverted link matrix model of the web. Period.

PR is not worthless, it is highly valued, think of it as an "integrity factor", not one that will garner you high rankings in all keywords relevant to your pages or website.
PR is one factor out of over 100 that determine how websites rank in Google results, but Google is not telling us how much weight they give PR.

Agree. And toolbar Pr is
"Google's measure of the importance of a page" (That is about Google's credibility - brand if you like that word better here).
and in my opinion a measure of stable weighted votes, where votes carried by irrelevant links preferably are set to zero (at least after a while).

Re: Why people loves Page Rank (PR)?
Discussing Page Rank is good, due to the common misconceptions out there that webmasters really believe, like the one where the "more links you get the higher you will rank".
At least it is not a Page Rank Update thread !!

Re: Why people loves Page Rank (PR)?
Who knows, it looks like a lot of confusion.
I have seen pages rank number 1 for a term that is all due to anchor text used in the incoming link (natural organic links) from respected writers (sites that have PR) and the page that ranked number 1 for that term had ZERO PAGE RANK !!!
So does Page Rank determine everything, NO, is it a factor in ranking along with 100 + other components Google uses, YES.
Will Google tell you how they rank sites or how much weight Page Rank has versus other factors, NO !

So your conclusion please? Is PageRank a ranking factor or not?
And answer Yes or No will be enough.
Thanks.

How often have you asked this question now?
Here's another question: Is the spinning of the world a weather factor?
