I want to know what is most effective for getting greater ranking:
Post articles on 1 Article directory like ezinearticle or post on the blog of my website? Because I don't know what Google likes more: having fresh unique article post on my blog updated once a week or having incomming links from article directory? Also, should I submit to other article directories or no because it will have duplicate articles? |

The best thing to do is write an article for your site and then submit a "condensed" version to article directories, ezines etc. This way you will be building content (which is very important) and you will also be building links (which is also very important!)

It's likely whatever you blog will be better related to the content of your website
as opposed to articles published on unrelated sites. I often question whether articles may, in some cases, do more harm then good.

It depends where you submit your articled. Quality is very important. It is better to submit your article(s) to a few quality sites, versus many low quality sites. With quality blog content you can get a higher page ranking. Make sure that you update your blog as often as you can... search engines and the google spider likes updated sites. Good luck for you. You need both, plus some other kinds of back-links, too.
Write some very well written articles, and place them on highly ranged press release sites, ezine or emag sites. Be sure they are on-topic for your site. A good way to develop the topic for your articles is to debunk some mistaken point of view. This enters a controversy, and causes people to quote them on their own sites. So you get the article, plus some other backlinks. I've got some of those articles and press release de-bunkers working for my sites that have been getting traffic and links for years. Wow. Great return on invested time. Don't forget the press release sites. Look at the rank of their front page to determine which is best. Then make sure the articles on your own blog are updated every single day. Fresh content is the number one target for Google and other bots and will help your ranking for the targeted keyword phrases. However, don't waste your time copying other peoples' articles. Not only does it not help your PR, it also may cause duplication penalties and de-list or lower your existing pagerank. Be original.
