Default Success!!!

In reference to http://www.webproworld.com/viewtopic.php?t=14375

I don't know if it's down to my moving to a new host or my making all links now use the full path but now I am back as number 1 on Google (if you search for carbonize that is).

I did a check on my stats and I noticed that all the search engines were just visiting the robots.txt and then a single page. I wondered then if th eproblem might not be Googlebot having problems with sites that use <base href=""> so I made the main and sub menu links use the full paths and today I find myself back in Googles good books. But I can't say for sure if this is just down to my changing the link, which I did last night, or my changing to a new host which also happened last night (I mean the name servers got changed yesterday morning and would of propagated by then).

Great Carbonize.
It can be hard to analyze what to put an improvement down to when you make many at the same time, but harder still to sit on your hands when your rankings are down and on only one make one change at a time.

Great result carbonize! Two weeks down the line, and you're still No.1 (for carbonize, that is!)
One thing I noticed from the "www.carbonize.co.uk+carbonize]more results[/url]" pages was that the page titles are identical for the first 3 pages at least. I think you could further enhance your listings by including context-sensitive titles on your site's pages... with PHP I'm sure you can set up a variable to automatically create your page titles.

Just a thought anyway, great to see you back in Google's good books! :o)

I think it may have gone something like this:

Carbonize: "Google sucks!"

Googleguy: "Uh-oh! Carbonize has taken his complaint public - and he's doing it at WebProWorld!! This calls for immediate discussion!!"

Google CEO: "Discussion? Discussion? You idiot!! Get googlebot over there stat! In fact, send in three of them! No time to waste!"

Googlebot: "Crawl, crawl, crawl. Spider, spider, spider. Ptui! a worm!"

Carbonize: "Okay, let's try it one more time... carbonize + I feel lucky... enter... Yikes!! I'm in!!!"

...and now you know... the rest of the story...
