Google hates this page for some reason?
Quite often i work on sites where Google refuses to index certain pages.
This is a site that i have worked on in the past and all its pages have been live for well over 12 months. The site is performing well but for some reason Google refuses to index this page - cd-duplication.asp
The sites not perfect i know and i don't have access to it anymore but it serves as a perfect example of what I'm talking about. I tried to get this page to appear for the key phrase "CD duplication" but the home page consistently appears instead. All the internal links to this page are labeled "CD duplication", i have built in bound links to the page using "CD duplication" as the link text, the title, h1, content etc all contain "CD duplication", the page passes copy-scape tests and has no previous "bad" history. But i cant figure out why the hell Google wont index it!!!?
Any suggestions?

Re: Google hates this page for some reason?
Well at a glance, the homepage is heavily optimised for the phrase, title, meta data, <h1>, and text. Also, if the external links you built are pointing to the homepage it's no small wonder the homepage is ranking. Based on what I'm seeing it should outrank your internal page.

Re: Google hates this page for some reason?
Well, originally this was the case and there was a point a while back when the link building was changed to point to the specific page but this still doesnt answer why Google refuses to index it????

They dont just dislike that page but all sub pages. Have you attempted to get links to these subpages at all? If not, then that is your answer.

It's indexed...
CD Duplication, DVD Duplication, CD Replication
And here for an exact phrase match...
"CDs to promotional merchandise" - Google Search

Yep, you're right. But not ALL of them and i can see no logical pattern as to why Google is not indexing some pages but is indexing others. These pages are all linked well from the home page which gets spidered regularly. These pages should be indexed even without their own back links. Shouldnt they?
Cranky,

I cant view your links at the moment because we are having some trouble with our IP being viewed as spammy and theyre blocking all suspicious activity. Anyone got any suggestions relating to this? Might score me a few brownie points with the boss!

Question
If Google finds an exact quote from your pages, does this mean that it's indexed in the main index - or could it be indexed in the supplemental index and still find the quote?

Re: Google hates this page for some reason?
i think if you changed the homepage title to company name - cd duplication - dvd dupl...
then linked to the page from right in the middle of the first paragraph of text on the homepage, and finally point a few external links at the page it may well do what you want it to, and feed through the homepage to rank.
you even might get those nice little dropdown boxes.

All it means is that the page is indexed.

I am also puzzled as to why there is no tool bar page rank?

Re: Google hates this page for some reason?
yes, that does seem a bit odd. point a bit of external linklove at it, it will soon sort itself out.

Re: Google hates this page for some reason?
Would it be worth sending out press releases about the site to free online press release services? Some journalists would pick up on it so you'd get a bit of free PR, plus links would be generated from the press release service site and anyone online media that picked up on it.
Would that help?

Have you considered creating an xml sitemap and submitting it to Google?

Re: Google hates this page for some reason?
This may be too simpler an answer but why not change the page type to an htm or html page?

Re: Google hates this page for some reason?
Get some inbound links to that page from sites that Google loves such as social networking sites and it should be indexed quickly.
