Lightbulb Public Discussion - Google Search Results without AdSense

I would like to draw the attention of Internet audience to the new feature that - if introduced by Google - can make search results more friendly.

Imagine that Google has an option of displaying the same sites, but with AdSenses not displayed.

I know, I know that it looks that advertisers, publishers and Google will lose big money, but in this post I am trying to prove that it's not like this - the advantages of major players will get even better.

My point to raise the public discussion is to see how many people would be for it.

Vote here or publish your comments to this forum thread or even to the blog post that I quoted above.

We can really make it live, in case we prove that people want it.

Lets see...

The public... Sure, I'd love to get television with no commercials and newspapers with no ads. Not going to happen.

The Adsense Publishers... Nope. Not at all. Why should they care why an ad gets clicked on? The last thing they want is for them not to be displayed.

Adwords... Nope. Folks who don't want to see ads aren't going to click on them anyway and if they do, it will be most likely because they find it relevant. People who follow links do so because they find them relevant, ad or otherwise. Would not change how "targeted" they are at all.

Google... Not in a million years. Adsense publishers would not be happy. Advertisers would not be happy. Google would lose lots of money. Stocckholders would not be happy.

Who would be happy? The other SE's.

Dave

You´re assuming that visitors actually care about the adsense ads. They don't. Of course there are some that care, but the maiority of people really don't care. And if they don't care they´re not going to be interested in having that option.

The few people that do care are mostly marketers I think. They actually notice these kind of things because it's their job.

How much do you care about the tail lights of cars working? You don't notice how many cars have broken tail lights. But if you´re a highway patrol policeman, you'll notice every car with broken lights. Imagine he would come up with the idea that you could program you car to not work if a tail light is broken. Would you really care about installing that on your car?

And if via better CTR - and Google sends more costly ads to publishers with better CTR - they will see from real case experience of their sites and blogs that they are getting more money from Google?
