Default SE Results - Titles and Descriptions

I think page titles and descriptions carry a lot of weight and are the
gateway to determining page content (what the page is about).

After a recent title/description change on one of my pages Google
picked up the new description on the search results but not the
new title.

I'd imagine the new title would be picked up eventually but it seems
odd to pick up one without the other during an update. This particular
page gets a gbot visit frequently.

Study this Norwegian

W3Schools Online Web Tutorials

site. Look the at source of the different sub pages, and you may get fairly good SEO advice. They rank for nearly everything related to web design and web development.

I will say
  1. Content and page title relevance for that content on every single page of the site is very important.
  2. Page structure of the site. See above example.
  3. Content organization, (<blocquote>ingress</blocquote>) at the top (the inverted pyramid) and relevant headings describing each section on the page are very important.

The new title will be picked up soon.

As for titles and descriptions. Title carries a lot of weight. Description not so much but its still important for attracting visitors.

May be relatively more for other search engines.

I have heard that Google use students to watch the SERP's (at least the top positions for popular key words).

That is what I call the adaptive element ( Semantic Search Engines? - Page 2 ) in Google's algorithm.

For people with a mathematical / statistical / algorithmic background the key word is:

adaptive (Bayesian) filtering.

Are you seeing the new description in the SERP or cache?
