Best SEO advise
Hi all
Google used to love my site. Now it seems to hate it since i redesigned my site.
Even when i search for unique text on my front page, its not found in google.
Please can you give me advise / help on what could be causing this?
Is my linking structure wrong ?
An i doing something google won't like ?
Other search engines seam to be fine but obviously google used to send me most traffic and not any more.
Please help.
Best Regards
Richard Moss

Re: Best SEO advise
You just redid your website. Many historical factors have been zero'd. All you have to do is wait and it will resolve it self. How long that may take is not really predictable, but expect at least a month but 6 to 12 months wouldn't surprise me either.
By the way, "compare thousands of machine tools" site:findamachine.com - Pesquisa Google shows some results from your website. They´re just not showing it in the normal results. Give it some time.

Re: Best SEO advise
Looks like all your pages are indexed, but almost half of your pages are in the supplemental index: 43.15%.
Question: Do all pages have the same names as before? If not, have you done 301 permanent redirects from the old pages to the new ones?
Also you are abusing your keywords meta tags, your heading tags, and you are harming your site with inappropriate use of the nofollow attribute.
There are many other issues, but I assume that maybe someone else has more time to help you out. There is a lot of work to be done to get your site back into shape for Google and most probably for other SE too.
Just a few quick tips on the fly to start with.
Good luck,
John

Webnauts
almost all the pages have the same names as before and i have redirected the other ones.
what do you mean i am abusing the keywords meta tags, heading tags and harming my site with unnessessary nofollow.
please can you give me examples of this and also what i should be doing instead ?
also i am using nofollow on the links that i want google not to follow. is this not correct ?
also on my main page i have a say 3 links to a page on my site with an image in one link saying ie 'click here', so i nofollow this and use the one with good keyword in. Is this not correct ?
Please can you also tell me what are the other things effecting this site as i did have good traffic and ranking but no more.
Many thanks and best Regards

1. Your keywords are spammy.
2. You are over-using the h2 tags, etc, and you do not implement is properly. Your expert designer should know what I mean.
3. About the nofollow attributes here is a fresh post of mine about this issue: Does PR Sculpting Work?

Are you asking for a full analysis and consultation? I am sorry, but I cannot help you any further here. I do SEO for living and I have huge time pressure from my customers projects already. That is why I said that most probably you can more get help from other members here too. Please do not get me wrong.

Re: Best SEO advise
Patience and a little bit of planning next time you redesign can go a long ways... Don't use too many keywords; optimize for the reader.

Re: Best SEO advise
My view - which seems to fit in with most of the comments above is: Evolution, not Revolution! A totally redesigned website is as good (or bad) as starting over.

Re: Best SEO advise
Webnauts has hit the nail on the head here! Any SEO company thats worth anything should be able to help you out with this. One other piece of advise though... try reading a usability book such as Steve Krugs "Don't make me Think" and a Search Visibility book such as Shari Thurows "Search Engine Visibility" and they should help you understand what Webnauts is talking about a little better. I think one of the biggest mistakes companies make these days is not educating themselves fully on "Usability" and "Visibility". Your websites purpose shouldn't be to get rankings, it should be to help users find what they are looking for. If you do this correctly then the SERP's will fall into place.
Good luck, I hope Webnauts helps you get your site back on track. L8r - Saxman -

Re: Best SEO advise
Hi All
I now realise why my web site vanished off the face of google 6 months ago even though it had grown to a front page ranking , I did a complete site redesign with no redirects nor any thing else ( as a newbie and self taught I did not know anything about this) and it is only reading this that it has all made sense .
Thanks webnaught and the others . time will tell
Cheers
Derek Nice

Re: Best SEO advise
A change in web design could temporarily lower your rankings. You just need to wait. Moreover make sure that link structure remains same as previous version of your website. It will help google to update your new site quickly.

Re: Best SEO advise
Never saw a negative ranking change caused just by changing of design. What usually causes the ranking changes, are other additional changes on the redesigned pages/site.
