Default Can this redirection cause any problem?

I need to clarify one thing. When we discontinue a module of a web site, we do not remove it and we just redirect it to some other website. But may be after serveral years, we may remove it then at this stage, will it affect redirection from removed module to the redirected website?

Let me make it simple by the following example.

If I used this URL www.aabbcc.com for 4 years and all my incoming links are linked to it. Now I changed my URL to www.ccddeeff.com. I applied 301 redirect from www.aabbcc.com to www.ccddeeff.com. Currently, this scenario is working fine But what If I remove this page (or module) www.aabbcc.com permanently. Will the traffic still be redirected from www.aabbcc.com to www.ccddeeff.com? Or do i need to keep www.aabbcc.com for always?

As long as you own aabbcc.com and have the domain name pointed to a server, you can continue to do the redirection in the server's configuration, without needing any content. However, I would not advise abandoning the domain name while you still have outside links pointing to it, because once you no longer control that domain you can no longer use redirection and will lose any benefit of those inbound links.
