Exclamation Why Google rolled-back my old page title again?

I changed my website's homepage title and Google accurately displayed it in search results as soon as Google updated its cache. But I have noticed that Google is again showing my old page title now even I have not changed anything at my side again.

Can anybody tell me what has gone wrong and why Google did this?

Can't offer much to your specific issue however, tracking rankings between yesterday and today, I have noticed a lot of wonkiness - from 1 to 3 and back to 1 again as of an hour ago for a key term. Google must be doing an update is what I figure! I had a 301 for one page that was showing properly yesterday and today, the 301 page and the old page is showing up for the same search! I'd wait and see what happens.

Could it be that your site is indexed in DMOZ and that title is used there?

yes it could be that Webnauts or it could be a simple roll back which happens often in Google. You could also be accessing a datacenter that has one version and then another datacetner that has the other version.

It must be picking title from DMOZ. Just add this code in your meta tags

<META NAME="robots" CONTENT="NOODP">

Your title will get updated within a week

How can you tell that? Are you monitoring the crawlability ratio of the site?

You're simply hitting a different Google server. Some are updated sooner than others.

The NOODP tag would really be a good idea, just to be on the safe side...
