Changed site design, added Chinese sends me down in Google

Hi all

I have recently changed my site design. The font page has drastically chaged and also the tempate on all 10,000 + pages on my site Machine Tools Directory, New and used Machine Tools, Manufacturers, Agents, Dealers, Manual and CNC Lathes and Milling Machines

I have now been dropped down dramatically for all my keywords. I have also noticed that i had translate this page next to my pages listed in google.

This was because i had Chinese text on the template and have now changed to be an image.

Can anyone tell me if there is anything wrong with my new site ?, what anyone thinks of my new design?, will having Chinese characters effect my rankings? Is there anything else i can do to increase ranking / traffic?

Or is google just re-indexing the new sturcture of the site ? how long does it take to get back in rankings.

My traffic has dropped by half because of this.

Well the first thing to know is if the URL have changed and if they have did you use 301 redirect fort the old ones to the new ones?

is there anything wrong with my new site layout? URL's have not changed but have been dropped dramatically in google. Is this just a matter of time for google to re-index new templates etc ?

Richard so many variables involved here so it is really hard to say why the rankings drop. Any time you change a website rankings can go up or down.

i have checked webmaster google for error etc and nothing and it still in index etc.

do you think its just a matter of time for google to re-index my new site designs etc ?

any idea how long this takes?

i had chinese links from my site to the chinese adverising pack as i have a chinese office.
This i have now changed to images so noext time search engines crawl they will not see chinese chars.

Do you think this would have effected my rankings so much ?

can you see anything else ?

Well, revert back to the previous version.
But you'll have to wait possibly for a few months to come back (hopefully).

my new version is alot best and more user friendly so that is not an option.

is that how long it takes ? a few months to get back into ranking in google?
