Question Beginner question

How does one find out easily a page in their sites rank. I know I can just type in a key word into google and then keep scrolling down until I get to my site. Obvioulsy this could take forever if you wanted to check alot of words and they weren't on the first couple of pages. Also is there a similar way of doing thins for Yahoo, MSN etc. Thanks - Bob

Sign up for a free Google account and use Google Webmaster Tools. It won't happen right away, but after a few days (or weeks - be patient) you'll be able to access your crawl stats. The tools will show you what relevant keywords Google found on your site and where you rank for them. They'll also show you which keywords generated clicks to your site.

In addition to Google Webmaster tools, there's a free tool from Cleverstat that'll allow you to enter a list of keywords and phrases then search to see where you rank as opposed to your competitors. It's quick and easy to use.

Free Monitor for Google - query Google easily. Google Monitor Query website position web ranking software

Alternatively, you can use WebCEO, which contains several tools which will allow you to see how your site ranks versus your competition on Google, Yahoo!, MSN, Altavista, etc. You can also print out reports, see how many of your pages are indexed, etc.

It takes some setting up, but if stats are what you're after, it's a pretty good solution.

I have used WebPosition and it works just as well for what you are trying. It uses a Google API user code so that you won't overload Google with continuos queries.
