Google Site Verifying

Is anyone else having this problem? I am using google site tools and they are telling me that they cannot verify my site. The Site was previously verified, but suddenly (about a week ago) no longer was. I have used both verification techniques (a specially named web page and a meta tag) and they are valid, but google is not picking them up. I am still ranking well on google, so they must be able to recoinoiter my site, but it is very frustrating.
Any Ideas or Clues?

how long has this been happening? Maybe a short term bug.

It's been at least a week, not more than a month

Can you view the verification data in your browser, either viewing source on the home page or manually entering the verification file URL into the browser?

Yep the page is viewable, when clicked to verify. The metatag is there google is just not seeing either one.

What message do you get when you click verify?

I was able to verify my site with the file method.

Although it pointed out I had 404 redirects to a 200 success page, which I had to change first.
