But you only get search results of the country DC your are located, so you will need to have a proxy in the targeted country. I tried several open proxies and did not work.

Any tips Jaan? I want to have U.S results, but I get results of Googles German DCs.

Google hasn't stopped using them; Google stopped issuing SOAP APIs some time ago, but if you have one, GoogleRankings is great ...

I just tried this tool doing a serach for the term "SEO" with my SOAP API Key and I got:
  • Google #92
  • Yahoo #200
I tried again without my key and I got:
  • Valid google API key not found!
  • MSN #581
  • Yahoo #228
Do you really think the tool is so cool? Can you explain me this issue?
What about the ones who don't have a SOAP API key?

Not sure what you are seeing when you don't have a SOAP key ... but when I use it and check my results manually, I find it accurate enough for jazz.

As for those who don't have a Google SOAP API key, well, I am sorry to say I think they cannot take advantage of this free tool.

OK once again. When I do not use the API key I get only this:
  • Valid google API key not found!
  • MSN #581
  • Yahoo #228

And once again, I would say I am not sure *what* you are seeing or why you are seeing those results when there is no API key. That service must have a SOAP API to work, so I am guessing results you see without it are erroneous.

That was my point. So if you do not have an API key you can't use the tool for Google.

So, why did we have to go through that when I had already made the point you were trying to make?????
That was a waste of my time ... and yours ... and that of anyone who bothers to read all posts between that one and this! I love ya, John, and you're brilliant and can be a good teacher ... but that was a pointless exercise, as it turns out.

If you felt the point was not made clearly enough, you could have simply repeated it with a line that went something like: GoogleRankings is useless for anyone who doesn't have the SOAP API ...

Cheers, MJ

That one is too limited; it only checks the top 100 listings. I prefer Scroogle's Google scraper in that case.

Sorry but I don't know API prefixes - is this the right one to use for Google? It doesn't have SOAP in their email anywhere but this:

Your Google Web APIs license key is ***************

Would that work for Google Tool?

I'm looking at a purchase of additional tools very soon, possibly IBP. Beyond SERP tracking are you pleased with the other capabilities of IBP? Are there other tools you prefer to it?

Thanks for your thoughts on this...

Maybe the best one is SEOforia.com . By using this one you can even chart down your historical ratings. Not to mention for the other stuff there - automatic recheck, multiple search engines support, mail alerts etc. It is a really good basis for negotiation with your clients.
