Are We Androids? Is Google Worse than Microsoft?

For those of you who would liken Google to Microsoft in arrogance, et al, there's Joe Wilcox to fuel the fire. His latest post on Android, the beta name for the Google phone platform, is full of ire. "For people saying Google is the new Microsoft, Google just might be worse," writes Wilcox.

FWIW: Google Customers = Programmed Drones?

Personally, I take a much less paranoid view, but I like to tell both sides of the story.

Google has the potential to be far worse, I agree.
But we don't yet know what they'll do.

As we don't know their secret algorithms, we don't know their future plans either.

But how about yahoo, msn, ask, etc - you might argue - they do have competition, don't they?

Think again, you don't need to dominate a market 100% to be a monopoly,
less can do the same, and also look less suspicious.

Remember that Microsoft has had a monopoly for many many years,
even though Apple has always been around too...

In the end, power always corrupts.

It's a case of betrayal of our trusts by the giant, we expected it to use its protective muscle to bring soberity and safety in the web environment, but it turned out that the same muscles are being used to oppress and subject us to its whims... too bad Google.

This act itself can drive many on the binge of web insanity, watch your back Google. When you evolve from being a loveable giant into a Goliath, the little Davids of the web might be aiming for your unprotected forehead.
