It's gone - if you download a new Google toolbar then the dreaded greenline is an optional extra. Or have I gone potty and it always was an extra? - But my recollections say that it was very much part of the scene from day one.
Either way it does reflect new thinking on the behalf of Google. In fact upon closer inspection it's not there even as an optional extra. So no more posts -thank you

I can't recall when I last downloaded the toolbar .. more than a year ago, and it was an option then ... but it was standard the first time I downloaded it ...
So, you're saying the new toolbar has no PR option?

How long do you think it will take before webmasters get rid of their old toolbars?

I've never seen it installed by default on IE or FF - always an option with a warning about the privacy implications. They might think of adding the implications to your sanity if you take what that small piece of green does to some webmasters as well of course

yep always an option to choose to display.. I was always bothered that FF doesn't have the little 'recommend site' that you get in the IE toolbar...

Well I also downloaded various toolbars of search engines like google, msn and yahoo. All are competiting to each other. But one thing is sure that we get enough things and save time from these instant toolbar options. Microsoft should redesign IE interface to manage all these custom toolbars so we can have better WORK SPACE.
What people do you think? |

Good call, webiff. I love having more screen space to view websites and hate the clutter of toolbars. The only part of Google's toolbar I use is the search box - purely because it's very handy. That is next to my address bar, with the StumbleUpon toolbar (well, about a fifth of the default toolbar) next to that - all on one line. Next to 'File', 'Edit', 'View', etc I have my bookmarks toolbar. No text on them - just 16x16 favicons to represent each site. All my toolbars take up just two lines (not including Firefox tabs). Very compact

Ctabuk, you seem to be missing buttons in several places! Good thing you don't need *this* one.

I just switched to Firefox this week and downloaded the Google Toolbar for that browser, and it asked me right away if I wanted to show PR ... didn't even make me work to find the Green Bar ... and I am loving using Firefox for the forum; I have Previews back, it spell checks automatically as I type ... this is GREAT!
